The objectives of this scientific gathering are threefold: informing scientific debates on development in Lao PDR and the sub-region, supporting decision- and policy-makers, and encouraging young Laotian students to pursue careers in research.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth annual Research Week for Development, organised this year by the French Embassy and the Institut Fran\u00e7ais of Laos in collaboration with Laotian Ministry of Health and taking place in Vientiane the 16, 17 and 18 November 2016, will focus on \u201cPublic Health Issues in Lao PDR: the Role of Research and Regional Perspectives\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Fondation Pierre Fabre is a Research Week partner alongside the Laotian government, academic institutions, development partners, United Nations agencies, research institutions and other entities from civil society and the private sector. The Foundation will also take part in the debates by presenting at a plenary conference.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professor Fran\u00e7oise Nepveu from Toulouse\u2019s Universit\u00e9 Paul Sabatier, who has worked on the Foundation&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationpierrefabre.org\/en\/our-programmes\/training-drug-specialists\/creation-master-mekong-pharma\">Master Mekong Pharma<\/a>\u00a0Diploma since its inception in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, will address the subject of rigorous pharmaceutical training to better serve the people in a presentation entitled \u201cUne formation pharmaceutique exigeante au service des populations.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>B\u00e9atrice Garrette, the Foundation\u2019s Director General, will present \u201cThe eHealth Observatory: an innovative health initiative to improve access to quality care in the Southern countries\u201d. Readers will recall that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationpierrefabre.org\/en\/our-programmes\/training-drug-specialists\/creation-master-mekong-pharma\">the Observatory\u2019s launch in July 2016 was covered by four digital campuses in Southeast Asia<\/a>\u00a0(Hanoi, Danang, Vientiane and Phnom Penh).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lastly, the Foundation and Campus France will announce an upcoming partnership to co-finance doctoral scholarships over the next three years. Ms Chitdavone Her, a PhD student who received a research grant from the Fondation Pierre Fabre, will also speak at this event to share testimonials from Laotian students currently in research-thesis
