The Prix de la Fondation Pierre Fabre was awarded for the first time by the Acad\u00e9mie des Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in Toulouse.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new prize from the prestigious French academy recognises work in pharmaceutical innovation, particularly in the field of tropical diseases.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Each year, the Acad\u00e9mie des Sciences, Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres in Toulouse hands out awards in the form of medals, diplomas and grants, intended primarily to encourage young talents in their work. This year, for the first time, the Prix de la Fondation Pierre Fabre for \u201cpharmaceutical innovation, particularly in tropical diseases\u201d was awarded during a solemn ceremony at the H\u00f4tel Ass\u00e9zat in Toulouse on Sunday, 6 December 2015.<\/p>\n

The award goes to Ms Claire Lastrucci for her doctoral thesis work at the Universit\u00e9 Paul Sabatier in \u201cpolarisation and the role of macrophages in acute and chronic inflammatory contexts\u201d, especially in cases of Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.<\/p>\n
